FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEW HOME FOR POETRY IN HALIFAX Toronto, Ontario, August 28, 2006 - "It couldn't have been a better situation," says CFP founder and president, Tracy Lynn Repchuk who has been working tirelessly to get poetry back into the mainstream, and have Canada be a focal point for this. "When you have a co-chair situation, you get two people whose skills build on each other, and create this really big effect. And with Betty and Donelda, that has been a wonderful reality." The Canadian Federation of Poets (CFP) is thrilled to be announcing the Grand Opening of its newest Federation in Halifax. "Halifax is a thriving environment of poets, artists and culture, and takes the Federation from coast-to-coast, with members from Canada, USA, South Africa, Malta, India, UK, Brazil, Ukraine and Australia, and we are proud to be a part of that," say Betty and Donelda. Tracy is passionate when she speaks of the importance of the branches/Federations in a community when she states, "It is the Federations within a community that really take poetry to the people. They promote locally, and help businesses by holding events, while bringing everyone together to encourage healthy expression, create understanding, and serve as a gathering place for people to share, promote peace, and go back to a time when people communicated face-to-face, and all the world was a stage." Betty Dobson and Donelda Kent, both members of the CFP, and respected poets and entrepreneurs are serving as co-chairs for this new venture. Tracy said, "Betty who also runs InkSpotter Publishing, and Donelda's Kent Publications and Productions, are the perfect candidates to help poets take their work to the next level, and get it out into the community where it belongs." She is thrilled to have them part of the team, and excited in knowing this would be a successful endeavour for many years to come. The Grand Opening will be held Tuesday, September 26, at: Mollyz Diner There will be prominent guest speakers, performers, door prizes, raffles and an open mic event where poets and performers can get together and share both poetry and short stories. The Canadian Federation of Poets, headed by president and founder Tracy Lynn Repchuk, is dedicated to uniting people and organizations from around the world in the global promotion of poets and poetry to ensure the restoration of poetry as a medium that is critical to the flourishing of society, and preservation of culture. Through the cultivation of youth, and education of adults, it is bringing poetry back to the people.
