Halifax, Nova Scotia, October 22, 2006 - InkSpotter Publishing is proud to announce the release of Betty Dobson's first poetry collection, Paper Wings. The Canadian writer has been honing her craft and winning awards for more than a decade. Over the years, her poetry has appeared in such diverse publications as Sol Magazine, The Book Lover's Haven, AMAZE - The Cinquain Journal, Apollo's Lyre, and 52%, as well as the anthologies Check the Rhyme: An Anthology of Female Poets and Emcees, Body Language: A Head-to-Toe Anthology, Passing, The Binnacle Ultra-Short Edition, Satire of the Inanities, and Epiphanies and Other Absurdities. UK-based freelance writer Mary Cook was the first to buy a copy of Paper Wings and just as quick to comment. "When I saw the picture of the author dancing 'Swine Lake' in her writers' publication InkSpotter News, I just knew I NEEDED this book," she says. "I wasn't sure whether I would dip into it or read it at a single sitting. Having done the former, I'm about to do the latter. "There is humour and pathos in abundance," she adds. "One poem--I won't say which, because it touched a truly personal aspect of my life--almost moved me to tears. The imagery throughout is that of the natural born poet." Paper Wings is also a first for InkSpotter Publishing. The long-time newsletter publisher is making its first foray into book publishing, with many more volumes planned over the coming months, including the international, interdenominational Holiday Writes.
