Writers' Guidelines

InkSpotter Publishing is accepting book length manuscript submissions for print and electronic publication. Our focus is now on non-fiction titles related to health and lifestyle topics. We also have a children's book imprint, Teddy's Ink. 

Please send a book proposal (including detailed synopsis and the first three chapters of your manuscript). We require delivery of completed manuscripts within two weeks of acceptance. Do not submit proposals for unfinished manuscripts.

We prefer manuscripts of 50,000 to 75,000 words (except for children’s books, which may vary), but we will review all manuscripts on an individual basis.

Royalty rate is 35% of profits (in the case of print publication, the difference between sale price and printing cost) for single author titles. Authors’ royalties are paid out quarterly (minimum $25) via Paypal. We require five years’ exclusive book rights from date of acceptance (authors retain copyrights). Authors are expected to participate in all aspects of book marketing and encouraged to take initiative in that regard.

Format

• Attach manuscript in Doc or RTF format to your e-mail. (We do not accept submissions by postal mail.)

• Set all margins at one inch.

• Paragraphs must be double spaced with first line indented.

• Use standard 12-point font (Times New Roman or Courier ONLY).

• Format emphasis and foreign words in italics.

• Include your name and contact information on the manuscript as well is in the body of the e-mail.

• Include cover letter and author bio (optional) in body of the e-mail.

• Send submission package to submissions(at)inkspotter.com.

Confirmation of receipt will be issued within one week. If you have not received confirmation at the end of one week, please e-mail the Publisher (Betty Dobson) at publisher(at)inkspotter.com.

Response time is three to four weeks. Do not send follow-up enquiries before four weeks have passed.
